- Is this legal advice?
- No. Handbookly is an automated document-preparation tool, not a law firm. It assembles your handbook from a verified dataset of state policy requirements and marks every policy required or best practice with its citation. It never represents you, never files anything, and never guarantees compliance. For advice about your specific situation, consult an employment attorney licensed in your state.
- Does having this handbook make me legally compliant?
- No document can promise that, and we don't. What the pack does is tell you — with citations — which written policies your state legally requires at your headcount, draft them for your company, and hand you the mandatory poster checklist. Posting the notices and actually following the policies are separate obligations only you can fulfill.
- Which states are supported?
- Right now we ship packs for California, New York, Colorado, Washington, Massachusetts, Oregon, Illinois, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Arizona, New Jersey, Connecticut, Minnesota, Michigan, and Nevada. We only sell a pack for a state whose policy requirements we've verified against authoritative sources — every requirement, citation, and poster in your pack comes from that dataset, and the same facts are published free on our state guides so you can check before paying. We add states by verifying more law, never by guessing.
- What if my state isn't supported yet?
- The free checklist tells you honestly if your state isn't in our verified set yet. We will not generate a policy pack for a state whose requirements we haven't confirmed — a wrong requirement would be worse than no handbook.
- How is this different from a free handbook template?
- A generic template doesn't know your state's required policies, doesn't know which requirements bind at your headcount, and doesn't cite anything. Handbookly resolves all three from a verified dataset, drafts each policy for your company, and marks every one required or best practice with its legal basis — the same facts you can verify free on the state guide before paying.
- What's in the $249 pack?
- A hosted pack page and a downloadable PDF containing: your complete employee handbook (every required policy for your state and headcount, drafted for your company), each policy marked required or best practice with its citation, the notices-and-posters checklist with issuing agencies, and an employee acknowledgment form.
- Do I need to update it when the law changes?
- Employment law changes regularly. The pack reflects the verified dataset on the day it was generated, and our free state guides always show the current verified requirements — your receipt email links back so you can compare anytime. A new pack after a material legal change is a new purchase.
- What do you do with my data?
- We use the answers you give only to resolve your requirements and draft your handbook. We never sell your data. See the privacy policy for retention details.
- What's your refund policy?
- Two automatic paths from your pack page: if our pipeline couldn't produce a usable pack (a policy section failed our quality gate, or generation errored after retries) you can refund; and if our logs show you never opened or downloaded the pack after delivery you can refund within 30 days. Both run through Stripe from the pack page — no email required. Outside those paths, email handbookly@forage.botand we'll work it out case-by-case.
- How long does delivery take?
- Usually a few minutes after checkout completes — the pack drafts each policy section individually, then assembles your PDF. The pack page polls automatically while it's being assembled.
